Training in CNY (Central New York)
Stotan Racing is based in Syracuse, at the center of New York State. Options for training grounds vary per season, and are wide spread.
During the spring, summer, and fall months, Stotan Racing trains largely inside Green Lakes State Park, the adjacent Erie Canal System, and the hills of Pompey and Manlius.

Green Lakes yields a variety of trail systems, ranging in surface and offering many hills. The Erie Canal System offers miles of flat stone-dust/dirt surface. The country roads of Manlius and Pompey are often unincumbered by traffic, and provide strength in hill running and beautiful scenery, combined. Outdoor track training is performed on several all-weather tracks in the Syracuse area. Cross training and weight routines are performed year round at Fairway Physical Therapy, in Manlius. Fairway is owned and operated by Mike McGee, PT, who generously opens his facility to Stotan Racing as a home for cross and strength training. Mike also provides top notch physical and massage therapy for health insured athletes.
As the winter transition is made (typically in mid-December), snow and ice allow for outdoor training to be done on the roads primarily. Indoor track training is done at Syracuse University's Manley Field House, which holds a 260m three-lane track, and OCC's newly built SRC Arena on their 200m Mondo Track.

CNY winters are for the physically and emotionally strong. Those who have trained seriously through our winters realize the strengthening aspects provided by the season. Much like Cerutty's sand running, silty snow covered roads and winds provide resistance training. Central New York winters harden the soul, test one's will, and create an indestructable mentality and resolve.
Within a 90-minute drive of Syracuse are the lower portions of the Adirondack Park, and Otter Creek Trail Systems, which on occasion are used by Stotan runners for weekend training summits, much akin to the original Stotans of the 50's and 60's and their training at Portsea.
